Vance Investigations is owned and operated by Richard A. "Dick" Vance. Dick retired from the Charleston, SC Police Department in 2004, with 24 years of service. During his service, as both a supervisor of the Department's stakeout and surveillance team and a lieutenant in charge of the Narcotics Division, he worked closely with federal, state, local law enforcement agencies, and community leaders. Additionally, his involvement of cases ranged from internal theft to the apprehension of violent criminals. During his career with the City, Dick supervised and participated in over 1,000 successful investigations.
In addition to Dick Vance's diverse experience in investigations and detective work, he has completed numerous courses on physical and electronic surveillance, interviewing techniques, courtroom testimony and trial preparation, Dick also holds a master's degree in criminal justice from the University of South Carolina.
In 2007, Cindy Vance joined Vance Investigations as a licensed private investigator. Cindy is an extremely valuable asset to the company. She has over 10 years of experience in surveillance cases and has a special advantage when a male investigator might be out of place.
David Vance joined Vance Investigations as a licensed private investigator in 2012 after serving in the United States Army. He served in Iraq during his tour of duty. We are proud to have a veteran working at Vance Investigations.
